The Artist
Gregory Batten
Gregory Batten also goes by the name 'Warlord', is a 24 year-old born in 1997 who is an Illustrator, Animator, and Sequential artist from Ypsilanti, Michigan. Currently using different mediums to further his art he's constantly trying to expand his skills and slowly become a "jack of all trades...", but a master of them all.
Growing up his mind drifted towards Japanese style art, mainly manga style, because of how dynamic everything consisted of in that world. Works like ‘Spirited Away’, ‘Cowboy Bepbop’, as well as ‘Naruto’ created a new world for him.
He attended the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for 2 years starting in the fall of 2015 majoring in Animation and a minor in Sequential art. He continues to practice his work and stays inspired by past and current art platforms.
His style is heavily inspired by Japanese style comics with a mix of African American style work. Trying to break the mold in current times of creativity him and many other Afro-artist blend these worlds of styles.
His projects/illustration display his abstract mind and also show his future aspirations on the types of work he wants to develop.
